Categories help to group different wiki pages into relevant themes and make it easy to browse related articles. Categories are always shown at the end of the page. By clicking on the category name, all pages that are tagged with this specific category will be shown in a list, which gives you an easy overview of the existing content in your wiki. Thus, using categories provides some structure and guidance for the users of a wiki.
You could tag, for example, all pages that have to do with your monitoring approach with the category “monitoring”. Or tag all pages dealing with public relations, publications and other information material of your project with the category “communication”.
To categorize a wiki page:
1. Open your page by clicking on the “Edit” button on the right top of the article. A new window will appear, in which you can edit the article. Go to the bottom of the article and click on the arrow next to "Categorize the article".
2. A box will open up. The right part of the box shows existing categories, which can be added to the respective page by clicking on the "+" sign next to the category name. The left part of the box shows categories which have been added to the article. They can be removed by clicking the "-" sign next to the category name.
3. In case you need a new category, which is not yet shown in the box, type the wanted category name into the field „Create new category“ on the bottom of the box and then click on „Save page“. The new category will be added to your page but will still be shown in red color at the bottom of the page. To finalize its creation, click on the red category link. A new “edit” window will appear. You don’t have to do anything but clicking again on the “Save page” button at the bottom of the article. Congrats, you just successfully created a new category!
