Energy Market Development Scorecard
We are proud to have developed a tool to investigate, measure, and subsequently be able to effectively stimulate the market development for modern energy products and services. This market development scorecard, which we developed for Energising Development (EnDev), offers:
a starting point for determining the level of market development; a scorecard with 19 market development indicators that can be tracked over time; a guideline for developing baseline scenarios and predictions on how markets could develop; and for tracking actual developments against those predictions;…A Warm Welcome to Our New Customers!
We are happy to have recently been contracted by these four organizations and programs:
For the Safe Water Enterprises Project by Siemens Foundation our Rwandan branch is setting up a WebMo that captures data related to the operation and community impact of water kiosks in Kenya. Data will be entered by local consultants and kiosk operators directly via mobile devices and then linked to the project’s logframe indicators to assess progress and identify need for additional support. We have recently been assigned to design a comprehensive web-based portal for the programme E4D/ Employment for Development, specifically for the VET Toolbox component. The VET Toolbox provides support to countries tackling specific vocational education and training (VET) reform challenges. The website will play an important role in making the project and available support known. In addition, the web-based portal serves as a platform for collaboration and networking between VET stakeholders. The project is implemented by five partners, namely Deutsche Gesellschaft für internationale…

Energypedia Team Event - Climbing Park
What does tying rope knots tell about a team? We experienced it on April 24th at the tree climbing park of Wiesbaden! While solving challenges with blindfolded eyes we learnt about the strengths of our team and where we have potential for optimization. After the workshop part we went tree climbing, not only overcoming anxiety but also having lots of fun! All in all, it was a great event to foster our team spirit!
My Insights from MERL Tech in London
I just got back from the MERL Tech conference, where those interested in the intersection between monitoring and evaluation, research, learning (MERL) and technology gathered in London. Apart from sharing all about WebMo in a live demo, I got to meet peers and discuss new methods, tools and approaches in the MERL-Tech landscape.
First things first – my overall take-away from the conference as a software provider is quite encouraging: monitoring and evaluation (M&E) Software is no longer a niche. The market has matured. More and more organizations are incorporating M&E…
Riding the wave of business: My first month as Country Director of energypedia consult Rwanda
As of this month, I’m always on vacation – or never, depending how you look at it. I’ve left employment to start a branch of energypedia consult in Rwanda. In principle, I continue my job of the past years as M&E consultant specialized in IT solutions, just in a different country, context and position. In Kigali, I’ve created a group for entrepreneurs to help each other out including by monthly lunch meetings. At the beginning I was the one listening and scribbling notes during the entire meeting. But before I knew it, others, who are completely new to Rwanda, began to ask me…
New Client: EnDev Rwanda
In the coming months, Melanie, Country Director of our Rwanda office, will carry out the IT consulting assignment “Support to EnDev Rwanda in the design, planning and implementation of IT based project tools”. Its purpose is to assist the pro-poor Results-Based-Financing (RBF) component of Energising Development (EnDev) Rwanda in identifying and implementing the right IT tools to verify the eligibility of beneficiaries and to monitor the solar market in Rwanda. We are excited to start this project and are certain that we can make a valuable contribution to the RBF in Rwanda.
