ICT4D is Here to Stay
Chief Technology Strategist, Advisor Digital Societies, ICT4D Advisor, Innovation Manager – these are just some of the job descriptions on the business cards I collected during the ICT4D conference. The conference that my colleague Sandrine and I attended in Kampala from 30 April to 2 May 2019 had a clear message: Technology will play an increasingly important role in humanitarian interventions and development cooperation. Technology will change both the way aid is delivered and how development organizations organize themselves. It already does, looking at the tools presented at the…
Breaking Down the Barriers - For More Accessible Monitoring Software
When we first created our M&E and collaboration software WebMo, we came from a place of genuinely wanting to make international development programs more transparent and efficient. After all, many of our team members, including myself, used to work in the field themselves. There is so much to be gained from a software that improves collaboration in the monitoring process, and this is true for projects of all shapes and sizes. WebMo was never meant to be a software exclusively reserved for highly funded projects. There are so many small NGOs doing great work.
That being said…

MERL Tech Jozi Takeaways: Matching Needs and Tools
In the first week of August, I attended the MERL Tech in Johannesburg, where the tech community in the Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning space met for an intense two-day conference. I was given the opportunity to present our software WebMo for Monitoring and Collaboration as well as host a session of our unique “The Wikipedia Approach to Monitoring”. However, it turned out that my role at that conference had more faces: As much as I’m a developer of WebMo – I’m also a consultant. In my work I want to make sure that anyone approaching me on the subject “IT for M&E” gets…
My Insights from MERL Tech in London
I just got back from the MERL Tech conference, where those interested in the intersection between monitoring and evaluation, research, learning (MERL) and technology gathered in London. Apart from sharing all about WebMo in a live demo, I got to meet peers and discuss new methods, tools and approaches in the MERL-Tech landscape.
First things first – my overall take-away from the conference as a software provider is quite encouraging: monitoring and evaluation (M&E) Software is no longer a niche. The market has matured. More and more organizations are incorporating M&E…
energypedia consult in Latin America!
Hola!
So, energypedia consult goes to Nicaragua! This is the first time for us as a company in Latin America. We have had some projects with clients in Latin America before, but all implementations were remote, so this is the first time we actually visit any country there.
This time we will be presenting WebMo to Centro Humboldt in Managua. Centro Humboldt is an non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of territorial development through sustainable management of the environment and natural resources.
Since I am a native Spanish speaker, I will present…
