GIZ is a service provider in the field of international cooperation for sustainable development and international education work. They have over 50 years of experience in a wide variety of areas, including economic development and employment promotion, energy and the environment, and peace and security. GIZ works with businesses, civil society actors and research institutions, fostering successful interaction between development policy and other policy fields and areas of activity. Their main commissioning party is the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
GIZ uses WebMo mainly for results-based monitoring of diverse projects. Results orientation is one of the key quality features of GIZ’s work. Monitoring and evaluation focus strongly on substantiating results and boosting impact. Yet things that are easy to do for individual projects are difficult at aggregated levels - that is, across projects and national boundaries, on a regional or global level. Here lies the challenge, and giz uses WebMo as a tool to assist in making sense of aggregated data at different levels and in different contexts, in order to provide a suitable basis for project steering and for learning within the project.
