The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) is a Specialized Agency of the United Nations. To address the missing link of regional clean energy and climate cooperation in developing countries, UNIDO launched the Global Network of Regional Sustainable Energy Centres (GN-SEC) program in 2010. These sustainable energy centres drive and accelerate the energy transition from the regional level. They work towards the creation of integrated and inclusive regional markets for sustainable energy products and services. The GN-SEC network currently comprises eight operating centres in the Arab and African region, Asia and Pacific, as well as Latin America.
The global GN-SEC platform, hosted by UNIDO, provides a space for joint learning, events, projects, communication and knowledge management. It facilitates south-south and triangular cooperation on energy issues and solutions of joint interest. The virtual platform brings the information resources of all centres together in real-time. Some of the centres are operation regional sustainable energy knowledge platforms.
To further improve and strengthen the knowledge, communication and partnership functions of the centres and the GN-SEC platform as a whole, energypedia consult is developing and designing a new knowledge management and communications strategy and advising UNIDO on the following topics:
-
Improving the knowledge management on the GN-SEC platform and network
-
Tailoring the knowledge management more closely to the needs of specific programmes and groups
-
Improving the existing communications practices, processes and tools
-
Strengthening the communications practice between the GN-SEC Secretariat and the individual centers
-
Opportunities for income generation through knowledge management and communications
-
Improving the existing GN-SEC social media practice
